At the beginning of the story Mary Lou doesn't really like Alex but at the end she really loves him.It happened over the summer Alex started going to Mary Lou neighborhood pool making up fake people just to be around her.the text says on page 106 ,"He said he made up the Murphys- they don't exist !All of those times he came over on our street and the pool,it was just because of ME!!!!! Also at the middle and end of the book she is always saying how she loves Alex Cheevey.
In the Beginning Mary Lou didn't really know Alex that well.As the story went on they(Mary Lou & Alex) learned more about each other better and then They started dating and all there friends were suprised.
Mary Lou did not like Alex that much in the beginning. Then things changed. Alex and Mary Lou went to the pool a lot and became better friends. Then they started to like each other even more. They are now dating and they go on dates a lot. Mary Lou can't stop writing about him.
